BONDS UNDER HIGH LOAD
Extra-strong double-sided tape for load-bearing bonds
For load-bearing assembly bonds, the label “extra strong” alone is not enough. Select double-sided tape by the parts to be joined, their surfaces, the direction of force and service conditions; we can help assess the suitable product and converted format.

Selection criteria
What does the bond need to withstand?
Start with both parts to be joined: their materials, surface condition and bonding area determine which adhesive may be suitable. Then establish whether the load acts mainly parallel to the bond area or creates peel forces at an edge. The thickness and construction of an acrylic foam tape may matter for surface conformity and stress relief; temperature and moisture must suit the specific product.
For a choice of product families, see 3M tapes, 3M VHB, 3M GPH, 3M LSE, tesa tapes and tesa ACX Plus. Use the product listing to select the specific version.

SELECT BY APPLICATION
Assess load capacity in the complete bond
A strongly adhering tape does not promise a particular load capacity on its own. Shear loads act parallel to the bonded surface; peel loads concentrate at an edge. Consider bonding area, part geometry and duration of load. For combined requirements, the related category pages guide selection for load and temperature, appearance and load, and load and moisture. Other products described as especially strong still need a product-specific assessment.
Once the tape has been selected, Krückemeyer GmbH can cut suitable materials for your process or convert them into die-cut parts. Describe the parts to be joined, service conditions and required supply format in the enquiry form so that material and shape can be assessed together.

QUESTIONS ABOUT LOAD-BEARING BONDS
What does “extra strong” mean for double-sided tape?
“Extra strong” is a product range attribute here, not a uniform load rating. Suitability depends on the specific product and the complete bond: both surfaces, bonding area, direction of force and service conditions must work together. An acrylic foam tape may absorb stress between different parts, but that does not mean it is approved for every surface or load. Check the product information and test the application on the actual parts.
Which type of load matters most when choosing a tape?
The direction in which force acts on the bond matters. Shear load acts parallel to the bonded surface; peel load is concentrated at an edge. The suitability of a double-sided tape therefore cannot be inferred from a phrase such as “high adhesion” alone. Tell us which parts are joined, the bonding area, the direction of force and whether the load is continuous or changing, so the product can be assessed for your application.
When might an acrylic foam tape be suitable?
Acrylic foam is one possible option when the bond needs to accommodate loads and stress between joined parts. Product information for tesa ACXplus 73106 describes a conformable foam core and viscoelastic acrylic for static and dynamic loads. Whether a particular version bonds to your surfaces also depends on clean, dry preparation, geometry and environmental conditions. The specific application still needs to be checked.
What details does Krückemeyer need for cut rolls or die-cut parts?
Tell us about both parts and their surfaces, the bonding area, the direction of force, and temperature and moisture during application and service. Add the desired roll width or part outline and explain your processing steps. Krückemeyer GmbH can cut suitable double-sided tapes or supply die-cut parts. Material, geometry and supply format are assessed together for the intended application result.
