FABRIC BACKING · PRODUCT SELECTION
Double-sided fabric tape for rough surfaces
Double-sided fabric tape combines a flexible backing with adhesive on both sides. For rough or fibrous components, the specific adhesive and its suitability for your surface matter as much as the backing; Krückemeyer GmbH helps you choose and convert a suitable tape.

Selection criteria
Match the fabric backing to the surface
Fabric gives the backing flexibility and can make tapes designed for it easier to handle. Adhesion on rough, fibrous or slightly uneven substrates also depends on the adhesive, coating weight and both components being joined. Before browsing the products, check the surface, load, required bonding period and how the release liner will be handled.

SELECT FOR THE JOINT
Choose the adhesive and handling to fit
Fabric backings do not all have the same construction: tesa 4934 combines a conformable fabric backing with a substantial adhesive coating and is intended for rough and fibrous substrates. 3M 9525 has a fabric backing and high initial tack. Your choice depends on whether the particular adhesive bonds to both components and how the liner and tape can be handled in your process.
If the tape is to be supplied as a slit roll or die-cut part, tell us the materials, required shape and processing step. Krückemeyer GmbH will assess the appropriate product and supply format with you. For flooring that will later be removed, the subpage on tesa flooring tape provides a more specific route; other backing types are linked below.

FABRIC BACKING QUESTIONS
What characterises double-sided fabric tape?
A fabric backing carries adhesive on both sides, while a liner protects the exposed adhesive until application. The backing can be flexible and easy to handle. Actual adhesion, however, cannot be inferred from fabric alone: adhesive type, coating and surface must work together. For rough and fibrous substrates, tesa 4934 is one option. For another grade, check its own product data and the two components you intend to join.
When is a fabric backing suitable for rough or fibrous surfaces?
A fabric backing can suit rough or fibrous surfaces when the tape is intended for the particular substrate and its adhesive makes adequate contact. tesa 4934 combines a flexible, conformable fabric backing with a substantial adhesive coating and is intended for rough and fibrous substrates. Rough surfaces can still bond differently depending on the material and contamination. Describe both components and assess the joint on the intended substrate before specifying the tape for production.
Can double-sided fabric tape always be removed later?
No. Later removal is a property of the particular product and also depends on the substrate, bonding period and load. Some fabric tapes, including tesa 4964 and tesa 4939, have specific removal characteristics; these do not apply to every fabric tape. If a textile floor covering must later be removed, clarify the conditions for both adhesive sides and the intended substrate before installation.
What details does Krückemeyer need for a slit roll or die-cut part?
Tell us the two materials and surfaces, the purpose of the joint, the load and the intended application process. For converting, we also need the required roll width or shape, the position of the bonded area and how the liner will be handled. Krückemeyer GmbH can supply suitable tapes as slit rolls or die-cut parts. We assess the appropriate format together against the product construction, geometry and application.
