Double-sided tape for industrial bonding

The right construction depends on the parts, surfaces, thickness, load and processing method. Double-sided tape with a film or fleece carrier can, depending on the version, be easier to handle and convert into contours. A foam carrier can accommodate uneven surfaces and gaps. Transfer tape has no separate carrier and conforms closely, but needs particular care in handling. Also check the adhesive coating on both sides: it helps determine which substrates can be joined and whether later separation is intended. We need details of both parts and the service conditions to select a specific product.

A thin tape is a possible choice when the gap is small and the parts have suitable surfaces. A film carrier can support dimensional stability and the processing of intricate contours. Foam tape becomes relevant when unevenness, tolerances or stress between the parts must be accommodated. Foam thickness alone says nothing about permissible load or suitability for moisture exposure. Compare the specific product with bonding area, direction of force and service conditions. For precise cut pieces or die-cut parts, the selected version must also suit the intended converting process.

Only versions designed for removal can be separated under their specified conditions. Removable does not automatically mean repositionable or reusable, and residue-free removal on every substrate is not assured. Some tapes combine a stronger adhesive side with a removable one. In that case, decide during application which side should remain on the component. For selection, tell us about both surfaces, intended service life, load during use and the planned removal method. Suitability must be checked for the specific product and actual substrate.
